Our Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book?

You can use the book now function to schedule a complementary introductory call to discuss your concerns and ask any questions you may have. This provides a unique opportunity for you to speak with your specialist psychologist before your session and ensure it is a good fit.

Who should use your psychologist service?

We are run by women, for women and see women negotiating many different experiences. You may be looking for a PMDD specialist psychologist or a menopause specialist in Sydney or via telehealth or be struggling with Autism or ADHD burnout or even a mid-life coach and cheerleader to help get you motivated for the next exciting chapter. We cater to all women.

What types of therapy do you offer for women?

We offer a range of therapy options tailored to the unique needs of women, including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), interpersonal therapy (IPT), and mindfulness-based approaches. These therapies are designed to address various issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions.

How do I know if I need therapy?

If you are experiencing persistent feelings of sadness, anxiety, stress, or are struggling to cope with everyday challenges, a specialist psychology service can be beneficial. Other signs that therapy might be helpful include difficulties in relationships, feeling overwhelmed by life’s demands, or wanting to better understand yourself and your emotions or behaviour.

What can I expect during my first therapy session?

During your first therapy session at Affinity Psychology, your psychologist will take the time to understand your concerns, background, and goals for therapy. This initial session is an opportunity to build a rapport with your therapist, discuss any questions or concerns you may have, and collaboratively create a plan for your future therapy sessions.

How can you help with Menopause and perimenopause?

Our menopause specialist psychology services help women understand and manage their unique symptoms, improving quality of life during this significant transition. We address hormone fluctuations, sleep disturbances, mood changes and cognitive concerns often associated with perimenopause. Not all women experience debilitating menopause symptoms, but many face confusion about their shifting roles and identity. Our menopause psychology services create a safe space for women to explore these changes, challenging negative stereotypes about aging and empowering you to embrace new adventures.

With over a third of women’s lives spent in perimenopause and beyond, we focus on long-term well-being. Our menopause specialist psychology helps you rediscover cherished parts of yourself that may have been overshadowed by responsibilities like child-rearing, career demands or caring for aging parents.

How can you help with PMDD

We are PMDD specialists offering PMDD therapy for women struggling with PMDD and other hormone-related mental health issues. We provide education and targeted interventions to help women cope with severe premenstrual symptoms and hormonal imbalances. Our goal is to provide PMDD specialist services to help empower you with knowledge and understanding.
